Starting from humble beginnings

Tough Glass secures a 900m2 factory at 14 Achievement Way, Wangara WA and commences business operations.

2011 – JAN

On your marks…

New production machinery starts arriving and commissioning of new equipment take place. Tough Glass employs its initial team of three.

2011 – SEP

Hard work and perseverance pays off

On the back of a strong WA economy, Tough Glass rapidly increase customer base due to service and lead times.

2012 – APR

Residential Sales to Commercial Sales

First commercial project was secured to supply shower screens for transportable homes.

2013 – JUN

Speed and Accuracy

Our first Intermac CNC is commissioned and processing times for heavyweight glass is reduced from 5 days to 3 days, to align with our corporate strategy of reducing leading times.

2013 – JULY

Growing month by month

Rapid Growth in Sales means limited space to offer a wider range of product offerings. Tough Glass decide to spread its wings.

2013 – AUG

New Home

Tough Glass secures a 3600m2 factory at 16 Prestige Pde, Wangara WA. This would allow Tough Glass to increase its production volume and offer a wider range of product offerings.

2014 – JAN

Continuous investment

Operations commence from the new factory. Tough Glass heavily invest in state-of-the-art production equipment and facilities to further improve quality and efficiency.

2015 – JUNE

Process and Quality Improvement

The company recognises the importance of continuous quality and process development and engage Kolbe Systems to implement their program into the organisation.

2015 – JULY

Process Architectural Glass

Builders & Architects requirements of larger spans of glass installed within buildings grew. Tough Glass further invest in new machinery to enable supply & processing of larger glass panes.

2016 – FEB

We go Green

In order to reduce our carbon footprint, Tough Glass goes green by installing over 380 solar panels generating over 100Kw.

2016 – MAR

Lean, Mean, Fighting machine

Tough Glass works with Toyota (TSSC Australia) to implement an organisational culture and an integrated production system to ensure we can achieve high quality glass at low cost and shorter lead times.

2017 – APR

Tough Glass heads home

The first ever Low Pressure Autoclave in Australia is commissioned at our old site on Achievement Way, enabling us to expand our product range and produce custom laminated panels in house.

2017 – JULY

Family

Tough Glass family reaches over 50 employees.

2017 – SEP

More machinery

Due to an increase in market share, Tough Glass decide to invest in a second furnace to increase our tempering capabilities.

2018 – MAY

Expanding Vehicle Fleet

Further trucks are added to the expanding vehicle fleet to meet delivery timelines.

2018 - AUG

New Product Selection

Tough Glass offer new product ToughSwitch™ switchable privacy glass to the custom laminate range.

2019 - JUNE

Successful supply of ToughSwitch™

First production orders are received for the manufacture of ToughSwitch™. The switchable privacy glass has been successfully installed throughout multiple buildings in Perth, WA including Curtin University.

2019 - AUG

Finding space for further expansion

By popular demand, commissioning of a new IGU line takes place to expand product offerings for the market. ToughECO™ insulated glass units combined with a high performing super spacer are introduced to the range.

2020 - APRIL

First certified laminating facility in Australia

Tough Glass announce they have been approved by Kuraray as a SentryGlas® Quality Network Laminator making them the first glass processor in Australia to receive this certification.

2020 - SEP

Soft coats are a coming

Edge deletion modifications are complete on the cutting line enabling the introduction of soft coats to the IGU range. ToughECO™ Plus, a new product in development will become available in September 2020.

2020 - DEC

Decade Milestone - Quarter Century to Come

Tough Glass reflects on the journey to date and celebrate as a company in the Swan Valley. Starting with only a team of 3 and growing to over 60 staff members. Four members were presented with 10 Year Service Awards.

2021 - MAR

Cyclonic Glass Tested & Certified

Custom lamination builds were designed, developed and tested to undertake specific testing requirements to withhold cyclonic regions around Australia. ToughStorm has officially been launched as the newest product available in the custom laminate range.
